Limited Preview of Microsoft Office Web Apps 2010
Microsoft is making a limited preview of Office Web Apps, as introduction for Office 2010, and for more widely-available beta of Web Apps will arrive this fall. I’ve got this information from ReadWriteWeb.
And here is the summary.
Word:
- Sharing capability is a big improvement.
- Users have to install Silverlight for zooming in and out.
Excel:
- Lightweight version of ‘desktop’ Excel.
- Charting feature not included.
Powerpoint:
- Slide decks are not available.
- Allow full editing for anyone.
All of them will be embeded on Internet Explorer, the native browser from Microsoft. And i think, this is just the begining of how Microsoft, Google Docs and any other vendors that develop Web-based Spreadsheet processor will do anything to engage loyal users.
